We offer survivor-led aftercare programmes that weave together the fundamental building blocks for enabling genuine healing and the reintegration of survivors and whānau into society

Success stories from NZCAST include individuals who have left abusive relationships, overcome addiction, and started new, positive chapters in their lives.

Ways We Help

We offer informative sessions that educate survivors about available resources and how to access them, empowering them to take advantage of free or discounted services, such as counselling and claims assistance.

All of this leads to our impact of enabling survivors of abuse in state care and their whānau to live full and positive lives.

We believe in empowering survivors to reclaim their lives and rewrite their narratives.

NZCAST provides holistic support to state care survivors through wānanga (educational workshops) to enable survivors to gain knowledge and practical tools to support their wellbeing and be connected to a community of supportive people.

There are significant gaps in existing support services for adult survivors of abuse in state care that NZCAST fills.  We have built a peer-to-peer survivor network on social media and offer one-to-one follow-ups for ongoing support by ensuring a range of continuous care avenues with the goal of building a sense of community for and with survivors.

We advocate for the rights of those who have experienced abuse in state care.

Our team works tirelessly to bring about systemic change that addresses the root causes of abuse in state care. We do this by providing a collective voice for state care survivors and their whānau at a national level, a voice that needs to be heard.

"The NZCAST Wānanga have been an incredible source of healing and connection for me and so many others in the Survivor community. The space created here allows us to share our stories in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, where we can express our pain and trauma openly. Hearing others' experiences and the tools they've developed on their journey has been empowering, showing us all that healing is possible."
